GJM General Secretary Roshan Giri strongly condemns Police Firing incident of Tukvar Tea Estate

Darjeeling : Gorkha Janmukti Morcha General Secretary Roshan Giri strongly condemns the incident of today at Tukvar Tea Estate. On the appeal of Sri Rajnath Singh, the union home minister, GJM President, Shri Bimal Gurung, had called off the 104 days Darjeeling bandh and had appealed the people to maintain peace and wait for the outcome of the meeting with the Central Government. But the West Bengal Government wanted to derail the talks and witch hunt Shri Bimal Gurung instead which was totally unwarranted.

To tarnish the image of GJM and to brand it as a militant organisation, the West Bengal Police has been shown to have seized sophisticated arms and ammunition from Tukvar area, which is under doubt and suspicion as the arms and ammunition may have been planted by the police themselves. GJM demands a high level judicial enquiry or a NIA probe in this matter. GJM believes in democratic and Gandhian way of agitation. Gorkhas are always faithful to the nation and we are not terrorist. The Central Government should intervene in the matter at the earliest and call the meeting with the GJM to resolve the long pending demand of Gorkhaland.
