Noted Nepali literature Birkha Bahadur (Subba) Muringla Receives Padma Shri Award

Gangtok : Noted Nepali literateur B B (Birkha Bahadur) Muringla has been conferred the prestigious Padma Shri Award. Birkha Bahadur Muringla is one of the eminent writers in Limboo Literature. BB Subba belongs to the Muringla sub-community of the Limboo community. He was born to Late Lall Man Subba and Late Sancha Rani Subba at Lingchom village, West Sikkim. He did his schooling from Tashi Namgyal Academy and joined Darjeeling College for higher studies. He served as a Govt. Servant in HRD Deptt, Govt. of Sikkim and retired as Additional Director. He has contributed immensely towards the promotion of Limboo language and literature. He has tirelessly served the community for over three decades to build a better understanding about the indigenous faith and culture of Limboo. He was one of the pioneers to ensure that the formal temple dedicated to “tageraaningvaphuma” and “Yummamaang” are built. He writes and speaks on various aspects of Limboo culture which has inspired others to confidently reconnect with the grassroots.
