3 days workshop on Gender issues and Budgeting held AATI, Gangtok

Gangtok : Twenty four Nodal Officers from various departments have attended three days long workshop on Gender issues and Budgeting held at the training hall of Accounts and Administrative Training Institute, Gangtok. The workshop organized by AATI had started on 27th August and concluded with the valedictory function, today. Addressing the valedictory function, Pr. Secretary, Finance, Revenue and Expenditure Department, Mr. M.G. Kiran, IAS, applauded the training programme and urged the participants to utilize the knowledge, imparted during the workshop. He further suggested AATI to conduct such kind of workshop in other districts of Sikkim also. During the workshop Resource Persons Principal Director, AATI, Mr. Deepak Darnal; Mrs Bansari Naag, Sr. Research Officer from Ministry of Women and Child, Govt. of India; Mr. Mahendra Pradhan, Joint Director Finance, Revenue & Expenditure Department (FRED) and Ms. Arpana Rai, Dy. Director, FRED enlightened the participants on the subjects of Gender issues and budgeting. 

The programme was organized by AATI with the objective of creating a common understanding about gender and its link with the development. It may be mentioned here that the exercise would be supportive for participants in identifying the differences between women and men regarding their specific activities, conditions, needs, access and control over resources and access to development benefits and decision-making. The entire workshop was focused on the subjects of understanding basic concepts related to Gender and budgeting gender analysis, introduction to Gender Responsive Budgeting (GDB) a tool for empowering the Panchayati Raj Institutions, Five step framework of gender Budgeting checklists for analyzing schemes / programmes, gender profile of state, districts and panchayats level.
