GANGTOK : The semifinals and final matches of the 2014 FIFA World Cup football are to be aired live here at the Paljor Stadium. The event has been titled as Brazuca, the official FIFA football, and will be organised by SB Advertising in association with New Image Ads. “Such an event is being hosted for the very first time in Sikkim and North Bengal to cater to football crazy fans in the hilly regions,” informed SB Advertising marketing executive Pawan Pradhan. Olympian Tarun Deep Rai has been chosen the brand ambassador and will be present at the stadium to watch the final, informed Pradhan, adding the screen size is 30ft by 20ft and visual and sound quality are excellent.

All football lovers of Sikkim as well as Darjeeling, Siliguri, Kalimpong and Jaigaon have been invited to be present and enjoy the matches on the giant screen. “We have arranged for 25 private security guards and also requested the Sikkim police for their support,” informed Pradhan. Tickets are available for Rs50 per head per match and can be had from the Ranka bus stand, MG Marg and Denzong Cinema Hall. The organising team says the money collected from the ticket sales will be donated as charity to the old age home in Ranipool, while some will be used to present footballs and jerseys to students of the State Sports Academy.
