KALIMPONG : Reacting to an error related to a civil service examination due to which six youth from the hills lost the opportunity for a job, Kalimpong MLA Dr. Harka Bahadur Chettri said the issue calls for an in-depth discussion. Notably, the six aspirants preparing for College Service Commission Examination were denied entry into the exams since they did not choose Bengali language as one of the subjects. Dr. Chettri said he has already raised the issue in the assembly earlier. “Since the incident happened when I was in the assembly, I have already raised the issue. I have made it clear to the assembly that the students and job aspirants from the hills do not have the obligation to choose Bengali as compulsory subject. The Ministry should reply to the issue within a week,” he stated. Hitting at the ruling TMC, Dr Chettri said such blatant issues are part of the government’s ploy against the hills people. “The issue was discussed and resolved during the formation for the GTA, but civil services department such as School Service Commission and College Service Commission have not implemented the outcome,” he claimed.
