Winning 10 assembly seats big achievement for SKM: PS Golay

Gangtok : The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha president PS Golay expressed his gratitude towards the people of Sikkim for their unconditional support during the general elections this year. Addressing a press conference along with the nine other winning candidates at the party headquarters in Tadong today, Golay said, “Winning in ten constituencies is a big achievement for us, it is not just the party’s victory it is the victory of Sikkimese people and Sikkim. With this begins the downfall of Pawan Chamling.” Thanking the people of his constituency for voting him, the SKM president said, “I am also thankful to the people of Upper-Burtuk as they constantly supported me and stood by me.” “We are not just a registered party but also a recognized party now. Had we not formed the party, the democratic rights of the people would have been violated,” he emphasised. Exuding confidence in the elected member of the party, Golay said he has faith in all of them as they are qualified and able leaders. “They don’t need any grooming, be it in quality or ability,” he claimed. 

He hailed the people of all the four districts of the state, especially East Sikkim where the party has won maximum number of seats. “East Sikkim consists of young and educated voters so they supported us in a huge numbers and held us victorious. However, that does not mean the people of North, South and West district did not support us. They voted for us in quite a large number as we lost with lesser margins,” he stated. Congratulating the SDF and its president Pawan Chamling for the victory, Golay said, “We hope to have good governance during this next five years as the ruling front will face stiff opposition in the assembly. We will focus in bringing local protection act into action and also see that there is 0% corruption in our State in the coming years.” 

Commenting on the victimisation process which usually follows after assembly elections in the state, the opposition leader said his party does not believe in victimization as it believes every people have the right to choose a political party and vote for the person they prefer.  “In a democracy partiality does not hold any place, instead we should work for the welfare of the people and protect their rights,” he added. SKM president also thanked party supporters, police, IRB jawans, SAP, MR work-charge and Adhoc employees for their support along with the press fraternity for continuously highlighting the party related news to the people.
